On this page, I going to supply you
with all the resources you need to become an expert webmaster. I will continue to add
links and suggestions when I find them. I taught myself everything I know about computers
and the web. I tried taking class but I found that they must teach to the lowest common
denominator. I became very frustrated. Teaching yourself allows you to learn at your own
pace. Plus, with the support of all the experts one the Web and in the newsgroups, you
always have a place to turn when you get stuck. Free Web Game |
Where to get help Dejanews - A GREAT GREAT place to get help. Most of the time, when you have a question, it has already been asked and answered. There are 35,000+ news groups (Usenet) on the Internet. News groups are basically discussion forums about a particular subject. There is a news group for almost anything you can think of. Dejanews is basically the search engine for news groups. They index every message in every news group and let you search their archive. When they find a message that contains your search word, they even bold the word in the message so you can easily locate it. They have two archives, current and old. The old is not that old, so if you search for your question and it can not find it in the default new archive, try the old archive. You can use the following form to search dejanews. Yahoo! - Yahoo! is the best directory on the net.
You may have even been on the site a couple of times. It is not like an indexed search
engine. Yahoo! categorizes each site based on it's content. Therefore if you're searching
on a particular subject you will not only find individual sites, but groups of sites on
that subject. Because sites are grouped together based on their content, it is easy to
find a site related to another site. For instance, say I really like download.com
and I want to find another site like it. I am not quite sure how to what category the site
would fall under, so I search for download.com. Yahoo! returns that it has found download.com
and above the listing is the group it belongs in - Computers and Internet: Software:
Shareware. When I click on that group, I now have a listing of similar sites! |
